Legacy Refrigeration recently responded to a service call in Chicago, IL, for a Manitowoc ice machine that had stopped producing ice. The machine was powered on but remained in stand-by mode, indicating that something was preventing the system from functioning properly.
Our first step was to cycle the clean mode to check for water flow. Unfortunately, no water was flowing through the system. After verifying that the water shut-off valve was open, we determined that the issue was caused by a clogged in-line water filter, which was restricting the water supply to the machine.
We replaced the clogged filter with a manufacturer-recommended OEM filter, restoring proper water flow. Once the filter was replaced, we tested the freeze cycle and found that the machine produced ice batches efficiently. To ensure the machine was running at peak performance, we proceeded to clean and sanitize it according to the factory’s guidelines, which is essential for maintaining hygiene and preventing future issues.
