Walk-In Cooler Repair Project in Warrenville, IL
Legacy Refrigeration recently completed a repair in Warrenville, IL, where a Norlake walk-in cooler was holding at 49°F, much higher than the desired temperature for proper food storage. Upon arrival, we confirmed that the cooler was operating at 50°F.
We began by inspecting the evaporator coil and found it completely encased in ice. Additionally, only one out of two evaporator fans was running. After checking the power at the non-functioning motor, we confirmed that the motor had proper voltage but had failed. This indicated that the motor would need to be replaced to restore full functionality.
After interrupting power to the cooler, we defrosted the evaporator coil and proceeded to replace the failed motor with a universal evaporator motor approved by the client. Once installed, we powered the system back on, and the cooler temperature began dropping rapidly, eventually stabilizing at a satisfactory 34°F.
We also checked the system pressure and confirmed that it was operating as intended for an R404 medium temperature application. The ice buildup on the evaporator was caused by the faulty fan motor, which had prevented proper airflow. Now that the fan motor has been replaced, the walk-in cooler is functioning properly and will maintain the correct temperature moving forward.
Legacy Refrigeration is proud of its exceptional service record, backed by an outstanding reputation and glowing customer reviews.
